WebCrossposting from the EVGA forum as it seems it hasn't gotten much traction in the way of finding the ideal TIM for the FTW3's unfortutunately unusual heatsink to component distances. TL;DR I highly recommend anyone looking to redo the pads/paste/putty on FTW3 cards to reconsider pulling off the heatsink or possibly face disappointment.
